The composition 'Dreamtime' (1997) is originally written for mandolin orchestra and can be regarded as a narrative piece of music. 'Dreamtime' is a fusion of dreams, the composer said. On one hand there are the hurried Western people who do not consider dreams, however different they may be, as important. On the other hand there is the Aboriginals' world in which dreams are directly connected with life and the hereafter. Because of the success of this particular composition, Annette Kruisbrink was commissioned by ´HET CONSORT´ to compose a new work for Mandolin Orchestra. This resulted in 1999 in a lengthy composition titled ‘Gone with the wind’, of about 12 minutes that is scheduled to be premiered during one of the Modern Music programmes by ´HET CONSORT´ in the near future.
Annette Kruisbrink´s ‘Dreamtime' was premiered 1999 and first recorded by ´HET CONSORT´ on the “Aranci in Fiore” CD. Alex Timmerman ©2000 | |
